On the left hand....
« on: August 30, 04 08:32:01 PM »
Just curious how many left handers we have here?
I'm one.

Also, what things do you run into that bug you that you have to deal with in life being left handed?  Here's a couple of mine:

Scissors
Writing in a notebook [the wires get in the way]
Potato peelers [a right handed person can take the same potato peeler that won't do crap for me and peel a potato in seconds]
People commenting on me when I eat or write ... as if I'm a freakin alien.  "Oh, so you're left handed?"  I'm like, "Yeah, oh.... you're RIGHT handed."   Like, sorryyyyyy, is it so odd to be left handed??

OK, just interested...

I'm ambidextrous.  I can do most tasks with either hand, including writing... though my handwriting is horrible regardless of which hand I use, which is ironic considering that I am an artist.  I think it is because I'm impatient, because I can draw fonts really well.

Although for some reason, when I write with my right hand, I curl my hand around like a lefty, which always confuses people.

Actually, with the scissors, I've become ambidextrous myself.  Had to because in grade school, there were never enough left-handed scissors.  So I got that one conquered, but it still pisses me off that the world doesn't accommodate us.  I mean, shall we start a left handers rights movement?  LOL
OK, I am totally kidding on that, but really, even today when you go to the store to buy scissors, are there a nice supply of left handed ones there?  And with technology today, why does there have to be a difference?  Can they not make scissors to fit either hand all in one?

That's funny that you curl your hand like a lefty... what baffles people when they watch me write is that I'm left handed and I don't curl my hand at all.

Well... I'm a lefty too... and to be honest people don't even comment on it... I've never had an issue with it, people are too busy cooking eggs.

*holds hand up* (the left one of course)

Another lefty here- I play keyboards so I suppose that means that my right hand isnt just there for decoration... Perhaps it is?

But yes right handed scissors were a testing point.

Ah well, thats what comes from being one of the more creative (or should I say destructive if we're all hung up about scissors) members of the race!!

Yeah you left hand people are in the minority us right handed folk are trying to breed you out of existence so the gene pool is not corrupt. On a serious note it is claimed that left handed people are more artistic - which obviously means I am right handed although I do use my left a lot more than most right handed folk would

like shadow i use both hands, in fact i hurt my rib and had to be right hand dominate, and it is the most awkward thing there is, too many things i do with my left rather than with my right, hehehe, and i also have to turn my paper sideways to write, just like a lefty......perhaps because my dad was left handed, and i learned to play baseball using his glove.........hmmmm m................

Right handed for writing and handsewing.... otherwise I use which ever hand is convenient to use for the task at hand.  Everyone else in my family is a lefty.

my husband is ambidextrous, too. i don't think it really bothers him. he uses whatever hand is closest to what he is doing and doesn't even realize it.

I didn't even realize, myself, that he could use his left hand for things till after a year after I was dating him!
